For our first ever Vital List for Moms, we tapped two of the healthiest moms we know — Liane Weintraub and Shannan Swanson, Malibu-based founders of Tastybaby, the buzzed-about new line of frozen organic baby food. Here are some of their healthy family favorites first-hand:

Yummy Tastybaby
We know most of the farmers who grow our ingredients, and have such admiration for their respect for the earth … our food reflects that integrity. Our Sweetie Pie (apples, sweet potatoes & cinnamon) flavor was a big hit at Thanksgiving with babies and grandparents alike. A Tastybaby trick: add chicken stock to Peas On Earth (sweet peas, brown rice & mint) or Bollywood Baby (lentils, carrots, onion, parsley & cumin) for soup.

The art of exercise
Our girls are tall like us, so pro volleyball player (and fabulous mom) Gabby Reece told us it was important to teach them to find their stability (they’re growing faster, which can throw off balance). We wanted a gym that promotes self-confidence, along with fitness (like Jag Gym). And when they’re not outdoors our kids are at Tinker, an incredible art studio where families can flex their creative muscle on recycled, repurposed and organic materials.

California babies
To keep our kids free of bacteria, bites and burns, we turn to California Baby (made with organic and sustainable ingredients). We always have Calming Hair Detangler and Boo Boo spray on hand. The whole family uses their sunscreens & natural bug repellents. We dab their essential oils on the kids' pulse points, Resistance Builder at the first sniffle, and Overtired & Cranky whenever necessary (it actually works!). Other faves: Aveeno, Zoochyand Avalon Organics.

Green babies
When Shannan’s daughter Louisa learned that paper was made from trees, she responded, “Where will all the birds live if the trees get cut down to make paper?” Tastybaby has a strong commitment to the environment, and at home we do our best to live “clean & green” with favorites like: Fleurette diaper bags (made from recycled plastic water bottles), dreamsacks sheets (bamboo fiber sheets—renewable and sustainable), and Shaklee cleaning products (eco-friendly and family-safe).
