Daily bit top

Our roots are growing in and we’re actually celebrating! Root veggies—plant roots categorized as vegetables (think: parsnips)—are a satisfying and delicious way to get important nutrients and regulate blood sugar. This season, experiment with long roots—thought to improve circulation and purify blood—such as burdock or daikon radish. Get started with this easy recipe.

Daily bit bottom

Which asana goes best with Pinot Grigio? And when drinking a cab franc, should one invert or just go with the hatha flow?

These are the quandaries that plague the nationwide trend of blurring yoga and wine—with workshops popping up like corks in yoga studios, wineries and on retreats worldwide.

The largest push for this controversial marriage of tastings and tantra comes from David Romanelli of Los Angeles’ Yeah Dave Yoga, and Madison, WI-based yoga instructor and owner of Bliss Flow Yoga, Angela Gargano. Together they tour the nation—and recently offered a sold-out “experience” in Umbria, Italy with their own house blend of swirl and shivasana.

Workshops are also taking place at SoCal’s South Coast Winery Resort & Spa, Heathan Hill Yoga in upstate NY, at occasional wine-focused classes at the yoga studio above Big Basin Vineyards in Boulder Creek, CA, and North Vancouver’s True Essence Yoga.

Our downward dog will drink to that…
