Gazing at a computer screen all day can wreak havoc on your eyes. Soothe your peepers with these simple tips:
Adjust your screen: Screen brightness should mirror the ambient light, otherwise your eyes work overtime. If the room is dark, lower your screen’s light to lessen the contrast. If the room is light, whether natural or fluorescent, turn up your screen’s brightness.
Plants: Office air is often dry air. Living plants in your workspace help increase humidity, and reduce dust and other eye irritants.
Eyexercise: Every 15 minutes, look at something 20-30 feet away. Shut your eyes, lightly press your fingers over your eyelids, and take a deep breath…or 3! The next time your computer freezes, roll your eyes clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Repeat 5 times.
Supplemental: You blink half as often when you stare at a computer screen. If you’re seeing red (especially those of us who wear contact lenses), 2 fish oil capsules a day will help naturally lubricate your eyes to combat the effects of a glowing screen.
