SELECTIVE palate

What: If you’re picky about your wine’s origin and environmental impact, head to the new Café Select, where you’ll find an extensive wine list that’s 90% biodynamic or organic, with selections ranging from Austria, Germany, France, and Italy.

HIT the spa-t

What: Starting next week, take advantage of Spa Week offers by booking natural/holistic treatments at some of VJD’s favorite local spas, like Graceful Spa, Yelo and Smooth Synergy.

When: October 13th – 19th.
How: $50 for all Spa Week treatments (book through the site).
Why: If you and your girlfriends have wanted to plan a spa day, don’t keep these deals under wraps !
   
SUSTAINABLE street food

What: The community-minded locavores behind Brooklyn’s Urban Rustic grocery store are now operating a food cart serving high-end and organic eats to McCarren Park-goers (and dog owners).
Where: Near the dog park in McCarren Park, Williamsburg.
When: Open seven days a week from 7:30 AM – 7:30 PM-ish.
Why: Grab a seat at one of 10 picnic tables (donated by Urban Rustic) and enjoy recession-friendly, good-for-you food like (cage-free) egg breakfast sandwiches in the great outdoors…no dog necessary.
   
TEEN toning

What: Physique 57 is offering a weekly exercise class designed specifically for teenage girls (ages 13-18).
When: Fridays at 4:30 PM, starting 10/17.
Where: Physique 57 studio at 24 W. 57th St. (btw. 5th and 6th Ave.), 8th floor.
How: Reserve a spot online or call (212) 399-0570. Series of 4 classes for $88.
Why: Exercise can be a valuable source of self-confidence, poise and strength for teenage girls. It’s the perfect study break!
