Cabbage Juice Recipe For Digestive Health

Cheri Calbom, in her book Guide To Juicing for Health: Unleashing the Healing Power of Whole Fruits and Vegetables, calls the recipe below an antiulcer cabbage cocktail.

Original Antiulcer Cabbage Cocktail

  • 1/4 small head green cabbage
  • 3 carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed, and trimmed
  • 4 celery stalks with leaves

I modified the recipe to take advantage of higher nutrient content of red cabbage and celery leaves. Also, I don’t need a lot of sugar to enter my blood stream quickly. So, I go easy on the fruits, especially those with high glycemic value. Don’t mistake high glycemic value with high glycemic load. Many fruits have low glycemic load which determines how much your blood sugar rises.  If a fruit has high glycemic value, it will enter your blood stream fast, however it will not raise your blood sugar much. Always talk to your health care professional about decisions that may impact your health.

Modified Cabbage Juice Recipe

  • 1/3 small red cabbage
  • 1 & half carrots, scrubbed well, tops removed, and trimmed
  • 3 celery stalks with leaves

The ingredients listed above makes up around 10 oz of juice with Tribest SlowStar Juicer. This is a potent juice. If you are not used to juicing a 4 oz shot could be all you need.

Quick Facts – Red cabbage has ten times more Vitamin A than green cabbage.

Quick Facts – Celery leaves have five times more magnesium and calcium than the stalks. Leaves are also filled with vitamin C and phenolic nutrients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
