Daily bit top

When it comes to meat, are you afraid of the dark? Dark meat from any bird contains more vitamins, amino acids and iron than white, and is loaded with omega-3s. While it is higher in saturated fat, you can significantly lower the content by removing the skin ... no need to be a chicken!

Playing cards aren’t just for poker night—you can design a complete cardio and strength workout with a simple deck (no joker). “And you can do this workout at home or in a hotel room,” says Lacey Stone, NYC Equinox Fitness guru and founder of Lacey Stone Fitness—so it’s perfect for holiday travel.

Step 1: Assign each suit an exercise. Some suggestions:
* Diamonds = Push-ups
* Spades = Squats
* Clubs = Crunches
* Hearts = Jumping Jacks

Step 2: Discard cards numbered 2-5. The numbers on the remaining cards determine the repetitions you perform for each exercise. Designate reps for face cards, such as:
* Jacks, Queens & Kings = 15 reps
* Aces = Rest

Shuffle the cards, draw one and perform the exercise indicated. (For example, if you draw the 6 of spades, perform 6 squats.) Then draw another card. Continue until you complete at least 3 sets of each exercise.

It’s like having a trainer … for free! Good deal!
